Last Friday, December  6, over 150 people joined InSITE fellows at the Semi-Annual Final Pitch Event ‘InSITE Connect’ at Cooley LLP’s offices. Chairman Paul Tumpowsky welcomed everyone with opening remarks and updates. 2013 has been an incredible year for all 162 InSITE fellows across the New York, Washington, DC,  Boston and Silicon Valley chapters with Shake Law and Tap Commerce, both InSITE alumni startups, completing their  capital raises from top VC’s, fellows working on recently announced projects with Microsoft FUSE and 500 Startups and many others.

This year, eight startups pitched an impressive panel of venture capitalists, including InSITE alum Victoria Cheng. Spanning across a variety of industries, this year’s featured startups were:

  • Band Wagon – ride sharing for taxis and car services

  • Board Vitals – timely and relevant study assessment materials for medical and health exams for physicians and health practitioners has launched a new website in an effort to help physicians.

  • HeTexted announced their exciting pivot from relationship and dating advice to providing an advice platform for women across many demographics and for an all encompassing list of situations. Their new name is sitchly.

  • Openfolio – social network for personal wealth management

  • Spotme – a mobile solution that engages the audience and connects event organizers with event attendees

  • Stylr – merging the mobile e-commerce experience with retail

  • Wermz – social news reader

  • Zola – a platform for e-reading, combining retailing, curation and social networking

InSITE fellows and alumni showcased their work and projects, ranging from Abe Geiger’s recent success in raising funds for his legal startup, Shake, to Steve Cordozo and Sam Slover’s hardware project for Microsoft Fuse Labs.

It was a morning to remember and to be inspired by.

Thank you to our fellows, the panel, companies, sponsors and everyone that attended!
